“Wow!”, was the only thing I thought about. It is already the end of 2014 and close to the start of 2015. Time flies when you are having fun, that’s for sure. It has been a long year, but it was fun, especially with the new recruits. There are obviously some visions and objectives to achieve next year, and these are some of the visions I have for myself.

2015 - It’s going to be a new year and many recruits are going to join our Company. For your information, our Company used to be a church-based company, but due to the lack of members joining, we decided to change to a school-based company. Starting from last year, our school decided to make it compulsory for the Form 1 boys to join The Boys’ Brigade for at least one year - and I was one of them. If it wasn’t for this, I wouldn’t have joined any uniform unit in my life. I am really thankful that I have this chance and opportunity to join The Boys’ Brigade.

Next year is going to be a year of major improvement as there is an increase in the number of NCOs in our
Company. Well, more minds equals to more ideas right? Firstly, my vision for the company is that there would be more interesting activities. As there are more members, it is going to be a lot easier for us to plan events. Besides that, interesting events can attract the attention and interest of members so that they are willing to stay in the Company for years to come. This is actually really hard this year as some of the members may not like BB because they think it is boring and decide to quit from our company immediately after their one year of “trial period”. I hope that my vision will come true next year as it would be easier when there are more interesting events that will interest them.

Secondly, my vision is that our Company drum line can grow a whole lot larger as many promotional performances have been going on the whole of this year, there are also many of them planned for next year. Currently, we only have 12 drum line members but they have been dedicating a lot into the growth of the drum line and have been performing very hard and also frequently to ensure the standard of the drum line, not just the amount of band members.

Next, I would hope that our drill standard will greatly improve compared from this year. One of the things we are going to do next year to improve our drill standard is by holding drill camps. This year drill camps worked really well as we came together and not only perfect our drill but also bond with all the members. We held two drill camps this year, one for practicing for the state drill competition and one right before the competition so that the drill team members can practice one last time before the competition. Although it was our first year, we did not perform badly. Next year and the year after, we are hoping to get a place in the top two to prove that we have the skills and ability to represent Kuala Lumpur and join the Pesta drill competition. This brings us to my next vision.

Last but not least, my largest vision for the Company is that we can have a singing, band, and drill team that is ready to take up the challenge of the upcoming Pesta competitions. Since we have a lot of members coming in every year, there must be a lot of talented people. Just with a little bit of training and polishing up, they can perform very well. This is one of my largest visions because our company is considered as a new company, so winning competitions like these would mean a lot to us and give us the motivation to strive forward and grow even stronger.

These are all my visions for my Company. It’s going to be a brand new year with brand new challenges, some of them may seem hard to achieve, but with a little bit of teamwork and dedication, I am sure that these things will happen in 2015.
