The Boys' Brigade is an organisation that strives to give young men the knowledge, skills and life lessons that
will help them mature and succeed as they become adults. The organisation offers boys a variety of benefits, including friendship, education, leadership opportunities and the chance to grow in a healthy, productive environment.

The Boys' Brigade movement was introduced in 1883 by Sir William Alexander Smith in Glasgow, Scotland. Since then, it has grown to become one of the most popular organisation in all the civilised countries of the world today. The Objective of the Boys' Brigade is the Advancement of Christ Kingdom among members and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true christian character.

Friendship is precious. It is mostly formed during the teenage years. BB helps create this bond among members. It is important because united we stand, divided we fall. We, members of the BB were taught to help one out from problems and misery. My friends and I went on our own ways after the last day of school in year 6 ... If not for BB, the years of friendship that we have cherish will fade away. I still remember when I first joined BB, my heart was pumping fast. But as time goes by, bridges were built among me and the other boys through various fun-filling ice-breaking sessions.

Education is an essential tool in this contemporary world. We don't need to be sedentary but studying is part of
life. My parents used to nag me when I'm not studying. She always tell me "A reader today, a leader tomorrow". Now, I learned how to make use of my time through the exposure in BB. BB also provide teaching sessions to weaker students if necessary. Students should not worry about not coping with their studies. Instead, BB can be part of their success.

BB promotes leadership skills among members, always holding on to the phrase 'Boys today, men tomorrow'. It is vital for boys to be a truly great leader in future. In band, they need a conductor, for drill a commander. Every programme in BB requires us to acquire such skills. Thus, regardless of age, one can be a leader. I'm 14 this year. I am in the drill squad and also a band member in the trumpet section. It reminded me of the recent Pesta & Convention that we participated. With good leadership skill in the conductor, we managed to bring home the gold award. My aim is to stand on stage as a conductor leading a team of band member someday. If there's a will, there's a way.

Why is BB the best choice for teenagers? In regardless of all the skills we develop, it is a place that connects us to the Almighty God through weekly bible study, worship session and prayer. In the Bible, Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. "He who has believed and has been baptised shall be saved; but he who does not believe shall be condemned.BB nurtures teenagers to be a good disciple of God. I once struggle to consistently attend BB meetings. It is my parents' persistency that I am still standing strong in BB today. This is the work of God as I believe that everything has its reason. In hopeless situation, it's always favourable. In a nutshell, BB is a stepping stone for teenagers to be a well rounded man of tomorrow.
